Viral Social Media Strategies

If you want to get the most exposure for your website to get more followers or generate leads, then you need to think about ways to get your link or website to go viral.

There are a number of ways to help you do that in social media. The primary thing to remember is that it’s important to deliver entertaining content that is going to engage your audience and give them the desire to share your content with others. You also want them to be interested in looking out for more offerings of your content.

One really good way to share valuable content is by having your own blog. Even though you can a free blog through Google Blogger, I prefer using a WordPress blog and have it hosted. It will give you more flexibility in designing it and helping to create your brand. A good resource for a blog and hosting including other marketing tools would be GVO’s Host then Profit program.

A Simple Viral Strategy…

If you don’t have much time to create an article in a blog, a great viral strategy is by the use of engaging or inspiring quotes using a graphic that can be easily shared across a social media platform, like Facebook.

A Few Keys for Using this Strategy…

  • Do not use this ALL the time, but a couple of times a week can work wonders…
  • Images/ Pictures Get Huge Exposure And Attention In The Newsfeed
  • Be At The Right Place At The Right Time
  • Train your FB likers to look out for your content and post at the same times.
  • Inspirational quotes and images work best in the morning.
  • Entertaining or amusing quotes or images work best later in the day when people are winding down.

An easy way to create your viral quotes:

1. Go to http://pixlr.com
2. Insert your viral quote/ tip
3. Put the URL of your blog or website at the bottom of the image (some will be curious enough to check it out)
4. Create your image at 720 x 540 Pixels
5. Upload your image to your fan page
6. Also share the picture on your Facebook personal profile

If people like what they see, they’ll share it with others in their network. This will also work in Twitter as well. Give it a try!
